Welcome to EYFS
There are two EYFS classes here at Trinity Road, Crystal and Sapphire. Although we carry out some focussed teaching activities in our separate classrooms, most activities are shared between both the class bases to ensure continuity in learning experiences.
Crystal class is set up for the children to enjoy exploring lots of different learning activities and resources including a role play area, small world activities, construction and independent art and craft activities. This gives a range of opportunities for their imagination to take flight.
Sapphire class is where all the children explore learning opportunities which reinforce the learning we have carried during the week. We have a phonics area, a maths area, a craft area and carry out some adult led activities in Sapphire too.
We also learn when exploring our outside classroom. We have sand and water activities and a new stage which enables us to put on our own shows with puppets, music or anything else that takes our imagination. We use bikes and trikes on our lovely road. We really enjoy having all these experiences outside.
Our PE day is Thursday and it is important that we must remember to take out our earrings, tie our hair back and take off watches for PE. PE kits will remain in school until each school holiday. This year we will be learning dance, gymnastics and ball skills. These sessions take place in the hall or outside on our playground or school field.
We are learning to become independent learners and can follow class routines and rules safely and co-operatively.
This term Crystal and Sapphire have been learning about superheroes. We are learning that people who help us like doctors, firemen and policemen are heroes too. We have been exploring their roles through a series of activities carried out in our classes, our roleplay and outdoor areas, including descriptive writing, positional vocabulary and art and craft.
We also went on a trip to the Essex Police Museum where we compared the different roles each of the emergency services carries out. While we were there we had lots of fun exploring the different activities in the museum including dressing up in police uniforms, looking for clues with magnifying glasses, torches and other equipment.
This term we have been learning about different ways of travelling during gymnastics and dance, including those used by superheroes.

We really enjoy finding out new things and are proud of what we can do. Look at some of the lovely things we have done this term.
This autumn we are exploring themes such as ‘Colours’ and ‘Celebrations’. We are looking forward to learning, new challenges and the fun we will be having in the coming weeks!
