October 2016 Update
We wrote our own Kennings poem to represent our class:
We are a friendly Year 5/6 mixed class with a passion for writing, art and reading. Our teacher is Miss McBain. On Friday afternoons we have Mrs Forkings. Mrs Lawrence is our learning support. We have P.E. on Mondays and Thursdays. We take our home learning home on Friday, and bring it back on Wednesday. We are looking forward to becoming palaeontologists this term as part of our topic ‘Survival of the Fittest’ where we will be excavating fossils our peers have made from our very own woods! We are particularly enjoying immersing ourselves in our class text ‘Floodlands’. In the story, the main character Zoe faces devastation when her home in Norwich becomes flooded. We have been using the ideas in this text to explore natural disasters and have already found out some incredibly interesting facts! Did you know that as well as forming on land, volcanoes are also found on the ocean floor and even under icecaps? We can’t wait to find out more about natural disasters this term so we can help Zoe understand why the flood happened in her hometown.
In Emerald class, we support each other to strive for excellence and celebrate our individuality. We are working hard to develop our positive mindsets as we know that when we approach tasks with resilience and determination, we will succeed.
