Reading and Writing are taught in collaboration through a text based curriculum. Each writing unit is underpinned by a text or other stimuli (such as a short film clip, picture or visit) to engage children with their learning. Reading skills are taught through reading lessons, as part of the writing sequence and through children’s own independent reading.
We use Essential Letters and Sounds as our Government Approved Scheme to teach phonics.
