At Trinity Road Primary School we value the creativity and skills developed through music. We encourage a quality of music education which engages and inspires pupils and develops a love of music. It promotes their talents as musicians, and increases their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. The teaching of music is planned to ensure a broad and progressive learning journey. As pupils progress, they develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose and listen with discrimination.
In line with the National Curriculum programmes of study for music, at Trinity Road we ensure that all pupils engage in performing, composing, listening and appraising music. We provide opportunities for performing, listening to, reviewing and evaluating music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of great composers and musicians. The children learn to sing and use their voices to create and compose. They have the opportunity to explore musical instruments and use technology appropriately. Exploring and understanding how music is created is experienced through seven elements of music that are interwoven throughout the year.
